Empty Island

muskoka - july 20, 2022

Headed up to Healey Lake in Muskoka with high hopes of being able to sit all day in the woods and catch who-knows-what with the camera. In reality, the place felt strangely empty. I got some footage of dragonflies (though not the hunting shots that are becoming my white whale on that video), fed some chipmunks, and otherwise wondered whether the barrenness of the island was something to be concerned over or if I was making it up because I had this idea in my head that there would be a menagerie out there just waiting for me.

It’s a sparse trip when a metallic wood-boring beetle is a highlight (no offence to the beetle).
